The Automotive Sales Industry Is All Over Clubhouse, Are You?

Clubhouse Blog

I want to share with you one of the biggest trends in the Automotive Sales Industry that is providing Dealer Principals, GMs, GSMs, Sales Managers, Internet / BDC, Fixed Ops, F&I and Showroom Sales Consultants with a plethora of value. Before I begin, I do want to apologize if you are an android user. I am sorry. Actually, I’m not!

I have always been a loyal iPhone user and it has totally paid off especially when it comes to the hottest Social Media Platform on the planet, Clubhouse!  Unfortunately, Clubhouse is still only in beta mode at this time and is available on iOS.  So to all of the Android users out there, you will have to wait in line.  Or, you can always get an iPhone or iPad.  Now, I know what some of you may say, “Why would I want to use a platform that is currently in beta mode?”  Well, that’s the crazy thing about Clubhouse.  Even though it is only available on iOS and it is still in its infancy, Clubhouse has over 10 million users and is growing every day.  To further elaborate, Clubhouse jumped from 1 million users in January to over 10 million in February. And to add even more hype to this viral social media platform it is INVITE ONLY. Let me repeat that, you have to be invited to join Clubhouse or you can “join” but you have to wait until someone you know takes you off the “waiting list” and allows you in. This is part of the craze, the exclusivity of it like a VIP Room in a Nightclub.

What is ?

Clubhouse, an invite only audio-based app where people can participate in different “rooms” with a myriad of topics. These rooms are audio only and disappear forever once the conversation is over. Think of these rooms like they are a conference. Do you remember the last Digital Dealer Conference you attended? Well, in a sense, that is what Clubhouse is like across the world for all industries and topics. There are multiple rooms going on simultaneously, each room having different topics, moderators, speakers and audience participants. A moderator is the “MC” of the room and is the person who started the room and conversation. They have the ability to invite participants from the audience to the “Stage” as a speaker. They also have the power to make them a “Co-Moderator” and give them the coveted Green Moderator Badge. This will allow them to have the same room privileges as the person who started the room in the first place. Like many other platforms, there are 3 levels or categories:

Clubhouse Individual iPhone

1. Individual (you, or a person)

  • Individuals are exactly what you think it would be.  It is you, you are the individual user.
  • Individuals can be participants (in the audience), speaker, moderator, (or co-moderator), meaning they are on “stage”.  Individuals have the ability to grow their network by searching and following other individuals, interests, or categories.
  • You can search for individual people or search for people by interest or category

2. Rooms

  • Rooms are the setting and stage where conversations take place.
  • Any individual can create a public room that is open to anyone or a private, by invite only, room. When creating a room, or when speaking, participating, or moderating in a room, the individual’s followers will be notified. Additionally, individuals can ping their followers to further notify them of rooms that they can get value out of as well.
  • These rooms can be named anything, for example, rooms I have created for the automotive sales industry are named:
Clubhouse Room Example
  • “How to Engage & Sell More Used Car Leads”

  • “Interviewing a Millionaire Car Salesman, Cody Carter of Tustin Toyota.” Cody delivered 139.5 Units in one month and generated $70K in personal income that month on the Showroom Sales Floor

  • “How to Increase Gross Profit by $1,200 per copy buying creating a Vehicle Buying Center (VBC)”

3. Clubs

  • Creating a club is the holy grail of clubhouse. Only the most active participants can create a club and they have to be approved by Clubhouse.
  • Clubs are similar to a group on other social media platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn. For example, the club I created on Clubhouse is called “Millionaire Car Salesman”
  • Clubs offer tremendous value. Not only can you have literally thousands of people in a particular room, but you can have people join your Club and become members.
  • Any individual of a club will be notified any time there is a room hosted in that club. For example:
  • If I, Sean V. Bradley, have created the Millionaire Car Salesman Club on Clubhouse, any member can create a room within that club.
  • If a member of the Millionaire Car Salesman club were to create a room named “How To Increase Volume and Gross by 50% in 90 days”, that room would be hosted by the Millionaire Car Salesman Club and all of its members would be notified of the group.

For us dinosaurs out there, another way to describe a Clubhouse Experience would be the Phone “Party Lines” from the 90’s. These rooms can be very large with attendees in the thousands! I have personally been in rooms that had 5,000+ participants and I have had the privilege to be a Speaker and Moderator in rooms with Thousands of Participants. Some people prefer smaller rooms with 20-80 participants. These smaller rooms offer more opportunity to engage with the Moderator(s) and Speakers.

How Do I Sell More Cars on Clubhouse?

Ok, so I think you may understand what Clubhouse is at this point. Now let's discuss the why. Why should you care about Clubhouse and how can you specifically use the power of Clubhouse for yourself and your Dealership / Dealer Group?
Brian Benstock, Partner and GM of Paragon Honda and Acura is one of the most visible and successful Automotive Professionals in the Industry. He runs 2 of the most profitable and successful Honda & Acura Stores in the United States. Brian also spends a tremendous amount of time on Clubhouse in other peoples’ rooms. He also hosts plenty of rooms himself that bring in THOUSANDS of Automotive Sales Professionals from all over the Country. They tune in to hear what Brian has to say. Additionally Brian encourages his team to not only join Clubhouse but to participate actively.

I had the pleasure of being part of a Clubhouse room that Brian hosted on a Saturday morning a couple of weeks ago. Let me repeat that, he hosted a Saturday morning Clubhouse for his Saturday morning Sales meeting with his entire team. Not only did he have a lot of his employees there, but he had over 1.5 thousand Car People from all over the Country on his Saturday Morning Sales meeting. He literally held a nationwide Saturday morning sales meeting. It was so powerful and precious for those Automotive Sales Professionals, Managers and Dealer Principals that would normally NEVER have the opportunity to experience a real time Saturday morning Sales Meeting with one of the Best Operators in the Country.

Clubhouse can Provide Free Car Sales Training

Automotive Sales Pros can and should use Clubhouse the same exact way you would utilize a Training Seminar or Conference for information, education, inspiration, networking, best practices, accountability partnerships and so much more. Clubhouse is like a live, interactive Podcast. What is truly the best (for me) is the access! With Clubhouse you have access to Billionaires, Mult-Millionaires, Best Selling Authors, Speakers, Trainers, Subject Matter Experts, Dealers, GMs, Super Successful Automotive Sales Professionals like Ali Reda, Cody Carter. This goes deeper than just the Automotive Sales Industry. In addition to the “Who's Who” of the Automotive Sales Industry there are Global Juggernauts on Clubhouse like Grant Cardone, Tim Storey, Chris Voss, Kevin Harrington. You can jump in one of their rooms or join their Club and have immediate, real time access to these people and all for FREE! The problem with Facebook Groups and LinkedIn Groups and Forums is that you do not have that real time fast pace conversation. People have to type, post etc… with Clubhouse you just talk. There are no other features to get distracted with, nothing is saved or recorded, nothing gets flagged for approval, nor is there anything very confusing about it. In its simplest form, Clubhouse is just people and professionals talking, sharing their knowledge and experience to help everyone see more, be more and achieve more.

Clubhouse's Greatest Feature is Functionality

The last thing to know about Clubhouse is its functionality. While participating is always a good thing, there is a tremendous amount of value by just listening in; and If you are a multi-tasker like myself, the ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time is a must have. Once you join a room, you can be on Clubhouse without being forced to be in the app itself. You can literally be listening in on a room in Clubhouse while using your phone to do virtually anything else, or even not using your phone at all. This means you can check your email, reply to text messages, be on other social media platforms, surf the Internet. There are times where I am working out at the gym or cooking dinner while listening in to Clubhouse rooms about the automotive industry.
